Makes a big difference!
As others have said, this weight really helps control muzzle flip. Since the prior reviews have been written the instructions appear to have been updated, since my instructions included the steps to dimple the aluminum plate and use loctite. It was also blued instead of in the white, which is a big improvement.

Lacking on star
The frame weight makes a dramatic difference in recoil and muzzle flip. Once coated in your favorite finish it doesn't look to bad either. Keeping it in place and level...well that is a different story. I found that once installed and level to keep it locked solidly in place you must run a slightly smaller diameter drill through all the screw holes and make a small indention into the metal plate for each screw to get a good solid purchase into the aluminum mounting plate. Once this is done a drop of blue Loctite on each screw and just enough tension on the screws to get their nose solidly into the drilled indentions. This will lock the weight in place without any further movement no matter what power factor you are shooting. I took the extra star in this review for the time and trouble to make the weight solid on its mount. It really makes a huge difference in the feel and recoil recovery so it is well worth the extra star.

SJC Rail Weight
Hi guys, I have purchased four of your rail weights without thumb rests. On each weight, I found when the set screws were screwed in it would cause the weight to cant downward from the front of the rail. This gave it an unbalanced look. To fix the problem I tapped two screw holes to the very rear of the weight but still able to hit the aluminum plate that I had reversed on the rail. I would first Loctite, and tighten the rearmost screws as much as possible, and then Loctite the front screws and install them. By putting the rear screws in first the weight would be in a more horizontal position to the rail and look much better. I like the rail weight and it significantly reduces recoil when shooting major power factor loads.

frame weight
I recently purchased the SJC frame weight and after I opened the package - I was amazed at the quality of this part. The machining is extremely well done and the fit was tight on the frame rail. Instructions are well written and easy to follow. Degreaser made for easy oil removal so I could paint it black. Once installed, this gave my open 9mm major gun a hefty feel which I was looking for. Recoil control improved along with better dot sight tracking. I will install one of these on my limited gun soon. Greg

Adds weight to the barrel and reduces muzzle flip. Installation is easy but be careful of the set screws
This definitely adds weight to the frame of the gun and helps with muzzle rise significantly. Installation is quick but be very careful of the set screws. I overtightened mine the first go-round and tightened the front screws a little much and it pulls the weight away from the frame of the pistol. Reversing the mounting plate and starting again fixed my mistake. Also, loc-tite is a must. Function checked the pistol before loc-titing it and after two magazines the screws had worked themselves loose and the frame weight had almost fallen off the pistol. Loc-tite should remedy this issue. Otherwise great product and really does add to the overall control of the pistol
